Taking the time for Psychotherapy Sarah Bisset

Client Led

We may combine Psychotherapy tools with CBT tools or focus on one or the other. This depends on the support needed.

First appointment

The first appointment may be more focused on your history and the issues you wish to seek therapy for. This is a very useful session, and it is best to be as honest as possible, about the type of issues you may want to bring to therapy. This over view is helpful to ensure you get the most out of your work.

How long does therapy take?

  • I do offer short term solution focused work. Some issues can be helped in six to twelve sessions. This tends to work well for specific bouts of anxiety or stress, phobias and goals for improvement.
  • Longer term work can be indicated. This means taking time to explore the emotions and moods affecting you today in the context of your family history. Once a place of safety is reached, we may then move forward into exploring some inner work.
  • Commitment to therapy is a commitment to self care, and means putting yourself first. It’s important to honour the regular time set aside each week to create a safe space to explore

FAQs

  • Can I change my time?

Sometimes we do need to reschedule times. This may mean moving the regular time to a different regular time. This does not mean changing the therapy day, on a weekly basis.

  • Will I get charged if I don’t attend?

Appointments are normally charged, and can only be cancelled in the event of illness or emergency. Or you can give a weeks notice for non attendance,  for example for holidays etc.

  • Do I have to continue therapy if I feel like it’s not working?

No you do not have to continue, and this should be openly discussed and reviewed. You are not committed to anything, you are just allocated the time and the sessions.

  • How do I pay?

A payment link can be e mailed to you, you can bank transfer or use a PayPal link.

You can also pay by card at the session. Payment must be made before, or on the same day as the session. A monthly payment plan can also be arranged, to work in line with salary.
